MUSE

So on the 9th, John & I went to see Muse. Now, for the record, I don't really like Muse. Not that I don't think they're talented. I do. I think they are incredible musicians with an incredible gift for putting together intricately designed music.
However, I don't really like loud British emo-political-music all that much.
HOWEVER, I don't voice this opinion around John very often because, well, he thinks they are basically the best thing to happen to music basically since Tupac.
And if you ask, he will tell you all about progressive rock and the different genres it blends and how brilliant the people who perform such music are.
Actually, he will tell you this even if you don't ask.
And especially if you say you don't like it.
And then he will tell you that smart people listen to Muse and you are smart so YOU should listen to MUSE, too. Except for those people who only like it because it was in the movie Twilight. Those people absolutely do not count.
And if you are a good friend (like me, of course), you and John will buy each other MUSE tickets for Christmas and go their concert together so you can better appreciate their music.
So that is what I did on the 9th. I went to a MUSE concert and I loved it. No really, I loved it. Not that they haven't won like 10 awards for being the best live performers ever (wikipedia even has a whole page devoted to their awards). I actually did go expecting to enjoy myself. And it was beyond incredible.
I took a few videos, but, of course, somebody in the audience was taping it much better than I did (someone seems to be yelling in all of mine :-) ). So here's the youtube version of my concert, courtesy of someone sitting on the other side of the court. (The sound gets about 1000 times better at about 2:20 and yes I think you should watch the whole thing. And then "Starlight" and then "Knights of Cydonia" and maybe "Uprising." That should be good. If you search for "muse, live, & phoenix," it will almost be like we're all there together. That would be cool...)
So, anyways, I'm not exactly blasting their CDs these days, but you can bet I'll make it to their concerts. And maybe I'll even enjoy a song now and then....

Hello everyone in Christin's blog reading world! This is John... shocking I would comment on this post. So there are some misunderstandings in this post. First off the number is over 28 awards over the last 10 years. In fact there are many more that are not listed on that link. Just something interesting to note that one of the awards that is listed on that link is BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE IN THE WORLD TODAY! uhhh hello the world!? I know I have pushed my love for MUSE on people for the last 6 years but really my argument is pretty sound with accolades like that. If you have not seen a concert this is not the one to start with, milk before meat. But at some time in your lives you need to see this band after you have seen a few other bands and drank some of the milk out there. Then you will appreciate what you will be witnessing at a MUSE show, that would be the meat. I do however really appreciate Christin and her wonderful efforts in humoring me by coming to this concert, she really is the best friend in the world. I realize that MUSE is not for everyone in the world but for you other 6 billion people get it together!!!

Though I am finding myself liking a few more of their songs, and I might even go to one of their concerts sometime cause I think it would be a good show, I will NOT be going with John. Not that I have a problem with John. I like him quite a bit. But if I had to listen to him talk about how great they were the whole time I would probably jump off one of their fake skyscrapers myself.
